Alumni Spotlight: Nick Sulak

Nick Sulak '17 (Bus. Admin.) is a young alumnus who began planning for success at an early age. By the time Nick was in high school, he had already started several entrepreneurial ventures. Today, Nick is an Associate Project Manager for Lowe's, and he serves on the board of UNC Charlotte's Young Alumni Chapter, Belk College of Business Alumni Council, and Greek Alumni Advisory Board. Nick is also an advisor to his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, and volunteers as a Niner Nation Gives Ambassador.

Volunteer service isn't the only way Nick gives back to his alma mater. He started donating to the University while still a student, and he's given annually ever since. This year Nick decided to support UNC Charlotte by naming the University as a beneficiary of his 401(k) retirement plan, making him (currently) the youngest member of the Bonnie E. Cone Society.

Nick Says: "I support UNC Charlotte because I had a great college experience. UNC Charlotte took me from the 18-year-old that I was and helped shape where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do."

"I included UNC Charlotte in my estate plans because I wanted to let the University know that I'm planning for them. Doing it through my retirement account was really easy, and I can always update the amount I'm leaving if I need to. I also wanted to be part of the Bonnie Cone Society, so that I could encourage others to do the same thing."

"A charitable estate gift doesn't affect you right now. When you make an outright donation, it's harder. You have options with estate planning that give you the ability to support something you care about while maintaining ultimate flexibility."
